Description

A soft and fluffy Japanese green tea bread that’s easy to make and perfect for breakfast or snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons good-quality matcha powder
  • 2 teaspoons yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a bowl and let it bubble for 1 minute.
  2. Mix in the bread flour, matcha powder, salt, and soft butter.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth and slightly elastic.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm spot until puffy.
  5. Shape the dough into a loaf, rolls, or mini rounds.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven until golden-green.
  7. Cover while cooling to prevent drying out.

Notes

For extra squish, add a spoonful of condensed milk to the dough. Store bread wrapped in plastic to keep it fresh.
