Welcome to twistrecipe.com, where passion meets purpose. I’m Julia, the founder and driving force behind https://bahaty.com/
Hi there! I’m Julia, and I’m so excited you’re here. Welcome to my little slice of the internet, coming to you straight from my slightly-too-small apartment kitchen in Chicago. I’m 28 years old, and if you’d told me five years ago that I’d be passionately writing about cooking, I probably would have laughed. Back then, my culinary skills were limited to toast and microwavable meals. My journey into the kitchen wasn’t a lifelong passion, but a happy accident that has completely changed my life.
My real adventure with food began when I moved into my first place after college. Suddenly, I had this tiny kitchen that was all mine, but I had absolutely no idea what to do with it. My first few months were a series of very questionable experiments, fueled by a tight budget and a desire to eat something other than takeout. There was the time I set off the smoke alarm making “crispy” kale, and the infamous “pasta incident” where everything stuck together into one giant noodle. It was humbling, to say the least! But somewhere between the burnt bits and the culinary chaos, I started to find my rhythm.
Unlike a lot of cooks, I don’t have a treasure trove of heirloom family recipes. Instead, my inspiration comes from all over—a fantastic meal I had at a neighborhood restaurant, a beautiful photo I saw on Instagram, or a random late-night craving. I fell in love with the process of trying to recreate a flavor I couldn’t stop thinking about. It felt like solving a delicious puzzle. I learned that cooking isn’t about getting it perfect on the first try; it’s about being curious and playful. It’s about that little victory dance you do in the kitchen when a dish turns out even better than you hoped.
My philosophy is that good food should be accessible and uncomplicated. You don’t need a pantry full of fancy ingredients or a ton of experience to make something that feels special. Most of my recipes are designed for real life—for busy weeknights when you’re tired, for lazy Sundays when you want something comforting, and for when you have friends coming over and you want to impress them without spending the whole day stressed out in the kitchen. I believe cooking is an act of self-care and a way to connect with the people you love. I’m still learning every single day, and I’ll be sure to share my successes and my not-so-successful moments right here with you. Let’s figure it out together!
Thank you for visiting twistrecipe.com, where every minute is an opportunity.
