  • 1 cup mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup warm water Ensure it's warm, not hot.
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 packet dry yeast Make sure your yeast is fresh.

Preparation

  • Mix the mashed potatoes with the warm water and let it sit for a few hours.
  • Add the flour, sugar, salt, and dry yeast to the potato mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a warm spot and let it rise for about 1 hour and 30 minutes until doubled in size.

Baking

  • Shape the dough into a loaf and place it on a baking tray.
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until golden brown on top.

Notes

Serve warm with butter or your favorite spread. Store cooled bread wrapped for up to three days at room temperature, or freeze for up to a month.
